Valerie is highly regarded for her faith, integrity, idea-driven leadership, and family commitment. She is an Atlanta native and has lived in the 90th district for more than 30 years. Valerie is (and has been) invested in the continued benefit and growth of her community. Her dedication and service to the community expanded over many years with many companies and organizations in the area. Valerie has an experienced ear and a finger of the pulse that will help to align the recent paradigm shifts into strategies needed to serve the constituents of District 90.

Valerie graduated from West Virginia University of Technology with a degree in Computer Management. She earned a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management from Kaplan University and has a doctoral degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University.

Her 30-years of experience analyzing processes and assessing business modeling through the interpretation of data is a valued asset and a necessity for real change. She is the bridge needed to scrutinize and transform pressing issues that deter the community.

Valerie’s connection to the community is seen in her entrepreneurship. She and her husband have run a technology business since 2005, and she does volunteer work with churches and school systems at every level. Additionally, Valerie is linked to the community through partnerships with development consultants for active senior living communities. She also advocates change by conducting seminars and workshops that influence health, safety, jobs; she is also an adjunct professor.

Her devotion to serving is rooted in humble beginnings with seven other siblings, which is where she learned that working together can result in successful outcomes. Successively, this ensued in her devotion to teams and groups working together to achieve a common goal. Notably, Valerie played collegiate basketball and was inducted into WVU of Technology’s Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019. She has a large footprint volunteering with youth programs that promote sports as an avenue for higher education.

Valerie is married to Sanders, her best friend, and biggest supporter for over 34-years. They have two adult children and four grandchildren.

Valerie is running to be your new Georgia House of Representatives District 90 in the special election held on February 9th, 2021. Valerie is a strong supporter of local government and governance. She is an experienced leader with the skills to stay in step with change and the passion for serving, which will ensure that the constituents of District 90’s well-being, education, and career opportunities are a priority. She is earnestly asking for your vote in the special election.
